What is Hemp


Hemp is the male version of the cannabis plant. It cannot get you high like marijuana. Hemp is low in its Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content, the psychoactive drug in marijuana, but high in CBD content (cannabidiol). It is commonly used for its fibers, oil and seeds. The fibers can be used a variety of textile uses such as fabrics for clothing and rope. A concrete like substance commonly referred to as hempcrete is a derivative of hemp. You can even produce a gasoline alternative called hempoline.


The oil is rich in its nutritional value. Its has been called the most unsaturated fat oil derived from the plant world. It is packed with essential fatty acids (EFA) that humans need in their diet. It's an almost perfectly balanced oil with a 3:1 ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 essential fatty acids.
